Landlord SS19

New York label Landlord use that fundamental menswear inspiration, military uniforms, as a basis for a collection that references surf, skate and cybernetics. With liberal use of fluo details and logos that wouldn’t look out of place in the 90s dotcom bubble, the overall vibe is twisted computer engineer or, as designer Ryohei Kawanishi puts it: “Net surfing”. Standout pieces include the utilitarian Hopsack Bomber and Army Shorts with velcro patches and reflective stripes, an evolution of previous seasons and a cohesive injection of colour into summer staples. Long sleeve tees and hoodies supply the skate culture silhouettes, uniting for an off-kilter take on menswear best summed up in the vaguely threatening collection name: Be Nice to Nerds.
