Aren’t we all longing for summer? Icelandic four-piece Vök certainly are, and the mix they’ve provided for us this week perfectly encapsulates the hazy days and sweaty nights you just don’t get
in January. The band are no strangers to conjuring up images of warm weather with a sprinkling of sleaze, with a sound described by Noisey as “channelling the Beach soundtrack via 1980s synth
pop and the modern sexiness of The Knife”.
Having won the Icelandic rising talent contact Músíktilraunir in 2013, Vök introduced themselves with smart, smouldering electronic jams on 2015 EP Circles, before bringing a more human and organic feel with debut LP Figure, released in 2017. 2018 promises to be another important year with a remix EP out on January 19th followed by a UK and European tour in February and March.
