As seen above as part of guest editor Nayaab Tania’s editorial Lock Two, Tim Coppens’ AW17 collection is has arrived.
Coppens graduated from Antwerp’s revered Royal College of Fine Arts – past students of which include The Antwerp Six, Martin Margiela and Demna Gvasalia – and founded his eponymous label following a move to New York in 2011. Known for progressive collections inspired by the subcultures of the streets of Belgium (and beyond), he’s gained quite the following in the short time since the brand’s inception, with Pusha T and the 6 God himself Drake both name-checking him on the regular.
The designer’s AW17 offering is inspired by post-apocalyptic romance, and though we’re not entirely sure that’s what would be on your mind in the aftermath of nuclear war, Coppens makes a good case for it. Featuring tracksuits rendered in traditional suiting fabrics and utilitarian outerwear, the collection is rounded off with oversized hoodies, functional bomber jackets and knitted sweaters bearing Coppens’ signature ACID motifs.
